MATREX : Finalize two airport projects in Cameroon

Today, airports are facing three challenges. They must need to improve tracking and baggage handling, optimize the passenger experience, and comply with the latest international safety and security standards (standard 3). MATREX offers baggage handling solutions adapted to airport customers committed to this approach. This year, MATREX has been awarded two major BHS projects in Cameroon.

We designed and manufactured baggage handling system for the arrival area at Yaoundé airport (Cameroon). The BHS system consisted of belt conveyors (collector, sequencing, injector…) and two T-shaped baggage reclaim carousels (76m and 56m).

We also developed a baggage handling system for the departure area at Garoua airport. The infrastructure included 6 baggage check-in conveyor, an odd-size check-in conveyor, free roller conveyors, belt conveyors and a remote maintenance system.

For Garoua airport project, the Matrex technical team has functionally optimized the baggage check-in conveyors. It is even more robust, more reliable, less energy consuming and it requires very limited maintenance operations.

The airport facilities will be commissioned in early 2020. Projects to extend the two BHS systems are already being studied, as well as other airport facilities, also in Cameroon.
