Baggage carousel

For many years, MATREX provides to the market « flat » or « inclined » carousels.

Flat carousel are operated into the following areas:

• Departure area: make-up (baggage picking up by operators) or automated sorting baggage carousel (baggage tracking sorting and dispatch).
• Arrival Area: baggage reclaim (baggage collection by passengers).

Inclined carousel are usually used at the arrivals for baggage reclaim. Their particularity is to allow storing two baggage one on top of the other. They have a 24° inclined apron surface and baggage sequencing on the central upper side may therefore double his capacity.

The fixed frame of the carousels (flat or inclined) supports a mobile “apron” which carries the baggage.

Apron is equipped with smooth flexible PUR slats slightly overlapped on each other (also available in rigid slats without any overlapping) fixed on a chain composed of links. Which allows the propulsion of placed above slats.

Chain runs in a profile. Our chain has the particularity of allowing any type of movement (horizontal, curved and 18° (31%) inclined up and down to change level).

Options:

• The central area of the carousel can be covered with decking infill panels consisting mainly of a fire-retardant and the hydrophobic central wooden panel, plated on both side with a galvanised steel cap (not visible side) and a brushed stainless steel panel (visible side).
• Carousel shapes in U, T, O, I or L. Shapes can also be adapted according to the required flow.
• Anti-intrusion shutters and strip curtains are placed at each wall through openings.
